Reflection for pitch
Our pitch that me and Aarun have done went really well and we gave out all of the points that were needed to be said. We also got positive feedback from Mrs greenfield as we eliminated all of her upcoming questions by talking about certain things, but Mr Phillipson found ways to help us and also look more in depth with our product and idea.
He told me and Aarun that our advert could go over 30 seconds due to the footage that we were intending to film so he gave us ideas to shorten it and he said that we could shorten our advert if we get rid of the bedroom scene and we can just have a person named as 'Terry' and we can just have the whole thing filmed in the bar rather than moving about. This gave us an insight to what we can do for our advert now that the footage has been decreased. Me and Aarun will now have to work together to come up with a clear idea of what we want it to look like now with the changes involved.
Sir also asked us why have we changed our audience and we gave a clear and understandable answer to why we have and sir understood clearly with what we said. Si also asked how we made our chocolate different to all of our competition and we basically said that our chocolate is different because we looked at other adverts and we made our advert completely new and unique, our advert isn't something you would normally see on TV that why our chocolate is different.

Case study of existing advertising campaigns researching the role and impact of - Advertising standards authority (ASA) and OFCOM
Case study of existing advertising campaigns researching the role and impact of - Advertising standards authority (ASA) and OFCOM
1. What is the background of the ASA?
ASA became official on 22nd August 1961 but then became an independent source in 1962 from CAP who were originally the start of all checks on advertising, from then on wards they have checked all adverts with something wrong with them. The ASA replaced ITA, ITA was originally the first ones to be in control of all adverts but when ASA was introduced it took control of all adverts.
2. What is the role of the ASA in the regulation of advertisements?
The ASA are really important when it comes to looking at adverts and seeing whether they are really okay to be shown on live television. The ASA don't only look at particular adverts they have a look into any advert which has been complained about, whether it be 'PPI claims' or 'Chesington World of Adventure' adverts. They will all be checked if someone has complained about it. ASA are funded by Advertising Standards Board of Finance Ltd (ASBOF) and the Broadcast Advertising Standards Board of Finance Ltd (BASBOF), these two company's that provide the money help out with everything they do to check if an advert is fine to be aired.

3. What is the legal standing of the ASA in relation to OFCOM?
ASA are basically helped out by OFCOM. OFCOM are another company which makes sure that everything is okay with what is shown on television or radio stations. The company would only know if an advert had something wrong with it is when someone either complains or whether it has been looked at by ASA or OFCOM. The advert will be looked at then decided whether it broke the rules, if it has broken any of the rules it will be told to either be scrapped or to be re-done till it has been corrected. If ASA are struggling with an advert that they have had a complaint from they would speak to OFCOM because OFCOM are the bigger company out of the two.

-http://www.asa.org.uk/Consumers/Monitoring-ads.aspx
4. What are the procedures of the organisation?
The website is laid out very well that there is a button on the home page where it can take you to make a complaint about the advert you are not impressed with. ASA will then collect your complaint and when they understand what advert you are complaining about they will contact the company who have made it and then find out what is wrong with it. They will then discover what is wrong with it depending if it is misleading information or whether it is just really inappropriate. ASA will tell the company to change there advert or remove it completely.
ASA wont judge your complaint that you send into them because every complaint they have got they have had to question it. Plus all the ASA need is one complaint from anyone in the world, and as soon as they get this they will fix the problem straight away.

5. What are the key parts of the code governing food and soft drinks advertising and children and advertising that you think will be important to bare in mind for your advert?
ASA are very careful when it comes to codes and rules, they want the rules to be clear and understood by anyone who makes an advert on food. The rules clearly say that it shouldn't promote unhealthy eating and that it shouldn't contain any false information about the product. Just these rules on there own are some that i will really have to consider when making my advert because i don't want to make it fully and find out i made a big mistake and broke one of the rules.

6. 4 ADVERTS
This is an advert about McDonald's burger and it just shows what is inside the burger that you would eat if you bought it.
ASA ruling would be that it will look at the product itself and also see what they say about the product throughout the advert then they will conclude whether the advert was misleading because of the ingredients they mention or whether the product is really like that. The advert would be left as it is because there is no information which is misleading and the product generally looks like it does in the advert. At 0:23 you see the burger fully completed and this is what you would expect if you buy this burger from McDonald's.
This is an advert which shows a person running from a group of lads and then when he is trying to hide a man smoking hands him a 'monster energy drink' which the guy then drinks and he turns into a monster which you dont see, but you can tell because the people that were running from him ended up running away from him.
ASA ruling would be that they would look at the advert and see what the message is. Then as they get closer to the message about the advert, one of the actors has to swear to show there scared and automatically swearing isn't allowed in adverts so this advert is likely to be changed due to him swearing. At 0:23 to 0:26 the ginger guy swears to show that he is scared of what he can see but this swearing alone isn't allowed so the advert would never be seen on TV unless changed.
This advert is all about children looking up to there parents or adults as a whole. They copy the adult with exactly what they do whether it be swearing, littering and feeling ill in the road. Not a good role model.
ASA ruling would be that it will look at all the main codes that surround children. Children are the main subject in this whole advert as they are seen in every shot. ASA will tell the company that have broadcasted this advert to take it down immediately because it shows children doing inappropriate things like swearing and littering. At 0:34 to 0:36 you see the child copy the adult by chucking his rubbish on the floor and this shows people who watch this advert that young children copy adults but because this advert has children doing bad things, i wouldn't think that this advert will be allowed on TV.
This advert was made for children to have a new toy which was coming out, but the way that this toy was portrayed was disgusting so the ASA definitely would not let this be shown on TV.
ASA would see this advert and consider the children code straight away, then they will look at the product and see what it does. The product plays a sound of some kind that apparently makes the children go berserk and also the toy makes a goo type consumption pour out of the side of the toy and this goo is edible apparently. The advert also states that this goo makes you not want to eat dinner. Because the advert has so many disgusting things in it, ASA would definitely not allow this advert to be shown on TV. At 0:18 to 0:21 you see this goo food that comes out of the toy and if this advert was TV then no adult would buy this present for there child because how disgusting it looks.

Advertising form and style
Style
A humorous advert is all about an advert which has been made to make you laugh at and to remember it because of its humor, This Pepsi advert does just that as it looks at a child that has gone to a temple to learn about martial arts, he starts of young but then grows up to become one of them. At 0:07 you see the sens a who has markings on his forehead but this is not the only person who has these markings. the child notices but doesn't acknowledge why they have these markings till he does his final test, then he understands. At 0:49 he sees the symbol that is on everyone's head, then he looks down at the can that he just drunk from and notices the same symbol so it is his destiny to headbutt the can and put the imprint on his head. This last scene is the reason this advert is so funny.
Dramatic adverts are used to grab the viewers attention and put them on the edge of there seat. At 0:11 you see another actor in an environment which he may not be in in his own program. This advert is full of drama as it shows many other programs with dram in them. The music that is used in this advert can also add to the drama because the music is soothing and old and this works well with what you visually see.
Parody adverts are a good way of making people laugh and remember them for being like the original. This parody is like Vinnie Jones is advert about 'hands on CPR' but this time they have got a child to take his role, this parody is made to be funny but also very serious at the same time. At 0:10 instead of the original Vinnie Jones being the adviser a young child is used, this is to grab children's attention and to tell them to learn instead of not knowing. At 0:33 the title on the screen says 'HANDS-ONLY CPR / HARDER FASTER YOUNGER' this shows the viewers that it is still a serious matter even if you are a child.
Form
A series advert is basically an advert which has a story line of some kind. This advert is an advert which has many others, this is not a single advert. Having an advert which has many other adverts is good because it is like watching a normal program but through adverts. The way they act throughout the advert shows that there is more than one. At 0:04 is an opening title and just this makes the whole advert look like a program.
Humorous
A humorous advert is all about an advert which has been made to make you laugh at and to remember it because of its humor, This Pepsi advert does just that as it looks at a child that has gone to a temple to learn about martial arts, he starts of young but then grows up to become one of them. This last scene is the reason this advert is so funny.
Surreal
A surreal advert is aimed to be something which could never happen but is really fun to watch, if children watch a normal advert they could find it boring but this advert has a huge rubber duck and this could make young children laugh. At 0:27 the dad has just ripped up the magazine and now a massive water hating duck has appeared at the window and just this duck alone is funny because you would never see something like this. At 0:33 the rubber duck also has super powers which is a loud sonic blast which shatters windows and destroys water pipes ETC. But obviously this will never happen but they have created this advert to be different.
Dramatic
Dramatic adverts are used to grab the viewers attention and put them on the edge of there seat. At 0:11 you see another actor in an environment which he may not be in in his own program. Realist narrative
A realist narrative advert is what you see and hear is what really happens with that product. The advert that i have chosen is the advert that is about 'Calgon', this advert is a good realist narrative because you get to see the product doing its work while a man talks over and shows you what it exactly does. At 0:15 you see two washing machines, one dirty and the other clean, you then get told by a persons voice what it does to help protect the washing machine. At 0:25 you see the product in boxed form with its other products which do the same job.
A anti-realist narrative advert is an advert which you wouldn't really see happen everyday. The Cadbury advert is best that does that because in this advert you see 1 street which is covered in wrapping paper and you see this at 0:00. This advert must of been really fun for all the children that were involved in unwrapping the whole street. This advert is definitely unique as it has never been done before and it probably wont happen again.
An animation advert is basically an advert which is all animation, there is nothing that is human in the advert. The iPhone advert for the new iPhone 5C was the best example for animation because everything that you see was made by a computer. At 0:01 you see this red/pink slime swirling around and this is the start of making an iPhone. At 0:23 you see the completed iPhone 5C with all its different colors.
A documentary advert consists of something happening and it being documented for a bit then told to the world, the advert i used is a women who had laser eye surgery for her eyes, and she talks about the procedures from first hand experience. At 0:11 you see the woman go into the Optimax laser eye surgery place to have her eyes done, the next time you see this women at 0:19 she has had her eyes done which means she doesn't need glasses anymore.
A stand alone advert is an advert where there will only be one off, there wont be anymore adverts that are the same. This advert is a one direction advert and they are promoting there perfume for women. At 0:53 you see all of them who are promoting the product by them being around it and admiring it. This advert will never be made again so the people that see it will only see it for this year otherwise they will have to go on YOUTUBE to see the advert.

Talking heads
An advert with talking head is just an advert with people talking to the camera, there is no movement of the body as such, it is just them talking to a camera. This advert is about aldi and how they are using people to say what they like better. At 0:02 you see a little girl which they have used to be the main person in this advert. There are loads of adverts like this and these adverts are good because you get to hear the opinions of the people who eat and buy the product.
Stand alone
A stand alone advert is an advert where there will only be one off, there wont be anymore adverts that are the same. Analyse five adverts techniques and associations - line of appeal
This advert can be for any gender and also any age. I said this because this is an advert which is aimed at everyone, you can't aim this advert at individual people. This adverts line of appeal would be self-perception because people are always deciding weather they really like Marmite. So this advert makes you put yourself in there position and whether you would do the same. The Socio-group that I would say for this advert is all of them because the product is so worldwide and easy to obtain that anyone can buy it. At 0:14 you see a jar of marmite which has been left at the back of a cupboard, this shows me a message straight away. The message is all about Marmite and weather it is really nice that you like it or if it's bad and you hate it. The whole time the advert was played, it was trying to get across a message about Marmite. This advert is all about identification towards the audience who watch this. when you see this advert you can identify yourself to be part of the people who may not like marmite or you can identify yourself vice versa.
Hidden
This advert is for either gender but I would say that this advert is for people aged 18+. I would say that the age I chose is accurate because this is set in London and you can't see any children dancing. The adverts line of appeal is solution to a problem, i said this because when something unusual happens and you want to tell alot of people a telephone server will bring you together. The socio group for this advert would be all of them again, I say this because anyone can buy a phone and have a server and it isn't aimed at individual classes. It's people having a dance around inside a station. At 0:18 a man starts dancing to a song which most people know. To me this would be weird and I wouldn't know what they are doing it for. So the message in this video can be hidden because you are distracted by all of the people dancing away to the songs being played out loud. You wouldn't know that they are dancing for T mobile. Social interaction is present for this advert because when you see an advert which is different, you have to tell loads of people about it. T-mobile have used this advert smartly because the advert is so unique and will be stuck in peoples heads.
Compassion
This advert is aimed at both genders rather than one and the age this advert is aimed at is 25+. I chose this age because I think that this advert can pull at the heart strings of people over the age of 25. The adverts line of appeal is fear and concern, i said this because the advert is black and white and red and you would want to know what is wrong with the whole situation and see if you can help them out. The socio group that I would put this advert into would be A to C2. I said this because these groups are all well paid jobs or some are and they could generously donate some money to the charity. At 0:02 you see a title saying 'My story Lee' this title shows us that the advert is going to be about this young boy and what he has gone through. The graphics that are used in this advert can help portray how the child must of felt rather than having a reconstruction of what has been happening. The voice over of the child is from the child himself who has experienced all of the problems. Identification could be seen in this advert because if you have problems like you parent has a back problem then you would see this advert and consider asking for help like the child in the advert got.
Self perception
This advert is for adults who own pets. The age I would say that this advert is aimed at is 30+ because by this time adults become comfortable with everything and this is the age that they would decide to get a pet. The adverts line of appeal is solution to a problem, i said this because when you have a problem with your floor, a hoover will help you sort the problem out. The socio group that I would put this advert into C2, the people that watch this advert are from this group because it is all about having skills and this is what you need to have to so simple jobs. At 0:06 a tiger is shown, and this tiger is being used in a challenge for a Hoover. This is all about putting the Hoover to a test and if it is really that quiet that it doesn't wake a tiger then you would think that the Hoover is really good. This advert was made to inform the people that watch the advert about the hoover and what it does, it shows the people that this hoover has become more quite. so this advert is information based.
Celebrity endorsement
This advert is for anyone who enjoys a Pepsi and the gender may be aimed towards boys because it is all about football players. The age I would say that this advert is for 13+, I chose this age because children like football a lot and they would buy this drink because football players that they look up to buy the product. The adverts line of appeal is self-perception, i said this because you would maybe want to be like a football player who can do what he likes and drink what he likes as well. The socio group would be C2 to E, I said this because you wouldn't really see someone of high class drink a Pepsi. At 0:15 you see a famous footballer trying to get a Pepsi but it doesn't work, because a football player wants to buy a drink then young boys will want to buy the drink as well. This advert has included many celebrities and they have done this for a reason. When choosing a celebrity the company that are making the advert have to think about why they should use a certain celebrity, this type of drink would be drunk when you are dehydrated and need a drink, the location that you would see footballers is on a football pitch. You hear about football players nearly everyday, you either hear them on the news, when a match is being played ETC. Pepsi had to look at all the football players used in the advert and be sure that they should use them, if the company had doubt then they wouldn't use the player. social interaction is for this advert because this is an advert which you will see then decide to talk to all of your friends because it is so funny and plus you can talk about the advert with your friends because a celebrity is used and this can cause conversation as well. Escapism would also be present during this advert because not everyday you get to see a football player walking around and going to get a Pepsi.

codes and conventions of adverts part 1 and 2
Part 1
Shocks and surprise- This is all about an advert which can either be shock or surprise you by what you see from the advert. Shock and surprise is a good way to get the viewers attention and make them think about the actual advert very closely. An advert which shocked me was the 'smoking advert' where the fat was coming out of the end of the cigarette, this was disgusting to see. At 0:27 this advert shows me that cigarettes contain lots of horrible stuff that it just creates boggy stuff which is disgusting especially when it poures out of the cigarette when the guy moves it. The effect this had on the audience would be that it would put them off smoking. No smokers want to see this and end up thinking that this is happening to them.
Annoyingness/Catchiness- This is all about an advert which you can find yourself annoying, it is something you don't like. An advert which does this is the 'go compare' advert, the man who sings the theme tune is not bad but hearing the song a lot can make the advert become really annoying. At 0:05 the go compare man pops out of no where and starts singing the catchy song, for people who watch the advert so many times, it can become very annoying but its only annoying because it is catchy and because of the catchiness, it can help you make sales because the music will be stuck in the audiences head.
Celebrity endorsement- This is all about an advert which has an celebrity apart of it. An advert which does this is the Muller light advert, the famous singer is Nicole sherzinger. At 0:01 the advert straight away has Nicole sitting on a nice comfy chair enjoying the Muller corner that she is eating, but instead of her talking to the camera they have had her voice be the narrator while she indulges into the yogurt. people who watch this advert will see Nicole and think if she eats then maybe we should get it as well, having a celebrity in your advert is a big helper as it can help you make sales because people will buy plenty of things if celebrity's buy them.
Music- This is all about an advert which has music throughout the whole advert. The advert that does this is the John Lewis advert, this advert is all about a hare and a bear that are good friends, they are getting ready for Christmas when the bear decides to hibernate, the hare is upset and gives the bear a present to wake him up on Christmas day and the present was an alarm clock, the bear then arrived on Christmas day to the Christmas tree that they built. The whole visual imagery of this advert is wonderful due to the uniqueness of the advert but what helps make the advert look good is the music used, At 0:18 the song starts and the song originally was sung by a group called keane and the song was called 'somewhere only we know'. but this time an artist named Lily Allen took the song and made it her own and it works so well with the advert while the advert is being played because the song sounds soothing and just works with the winter vibe. The advert can have such a huge influence on this advert due to its message and how cute the advert actually is, this will make the audience who watch this think that buying items from john Lewis for a friend will make Christmas complete, and i think that was the aim when john Lewis made this advert.
Catchy/Strong message- This is all about an advert which has a message which is clear and understood. An advert which does this is the 'Sure' advert, it has a catchy slogan which tells men something. At 0:29 the advert shows a clear message to all the male viewers watching and this message is 'SURE, it wont let you down'. All the male viewers will watch this and believe what the message is, they will buy the product just because the message is so strong and powerful. This advert is also jam packed with male sports, it shows loads of men doing different activity's and this could also persuade the male audience to buy this product because they might think that they can do these sports as well.
Aspiration- This is all about the viewers that watch an advert looking up to the people in the advert, preferably famous people that are in the advert. an advert which does this is the advert for sky sports which includes David Beckham in it. Everyone wants to be like Beckham because he is rich and he just looks good. At 0:01 David Beckham is on the advert straight away and and when you see this person you think about everything that he has achieved in his whole life, rather than what he does now. David Beckham is a true inspiration to all young children and also for the men as well because of what he does.
Humor- This is all about an advert which is made to make the audience laugh and remember it because it is funny. An advert which does this is an electric cigarette advert, it has a baby which gets up and dances out of no where. At 0:10 the baby walks freely then starts doing the gangnam style dance, this advert is aimed to make all the viewers which see this advert laugh. the obvious thing is that baby's cant do this in real life but it is still funny because the baby does certain dance moves. This advert can make the audience that watch it laugh for a while but then they would see it as ridiculous because a baby would never do that.
Animal factor- This is all about an advert which has an animal involved, the animal could be used to make you feel really sad or it can make you laugh. The advert that uses a dog is an advert from think box it has a dog which has a toy friend. At 0:11 the dog is sitting looking at his owner because the owner is about to throw the dogs toy. This dog that was casted for this advert is really good because the way the dog acts is realistic and it also shows him and a toy being friends and doing loads together. This advert can make the audience laugh and also maybe stick what they see in there head. this advert also has a catchy song and this fulfills the adverts.
Nostalgia- This is all about an advert which can remind you preferably of your child hood, ion it can be about anything. An advert which does this for me in particular is 'silly hat Barney', I use to watch the programme a lot and always wanted toys like this so this reminds me of my childhood. At 0:01 you see the toy that was around in my childhood and that is why i picked this advert. Nostalgia is a good way at strumming heart strings of all the people who see the advert, because it will remind them of there childhood. The audience that see this advert will be reminded of when they were little and this a good effect to have on the audience because it will remind them and also stick what they see in there head.
Intertextuality- This is all about an advert which has two forms of media in it. An advert which does this is the sky advert, it includes many other films in an advert and this is promoting two things at once, good films and sky movies. At 0:08 you see the intertextuality straight away, you see an image of Clark Kent from superman. This is one of the intertextualitys throughout this advert, there are 7 in total, so this advert is full of intertextuality which is amazing because it gives it that unique look. The audience that watch this will think that this advert is amazing because they have a put a 'normal' guy in old movies and this is truly unique. The uniqueness will stick inside the viewers minds because of how good it is.
Part 2
Camera and angle shot and Iconography
This advert is very unique because it doesn't use boring camera shots, it uses a camera like it is a CCTV camera, its based high up so it is looking down onto the people at the shop. They also used many other shots like a close up of his face when he got slapped by the orange man and also a far shot where you can see all the peoples body postures. In a advert is better to use as many different shots as you possibly can, they do this to make something not boring. At 0:00 to 0:01 you see a long range shot, this shot shows everything that is happening around the boys that are standing there. After this shot at 0:02 to 0:06 you will then see the camera move down to look at the boy drinking his drink, this angle is the mid shot. From 0:20 to 0:27 you see the orange man being tracked by the camera as he moves around towards the young man drinking his drink. All these shots that are used are a good way of being unique and keeping the audience on there toes as you don't know what you might see next. The iconography that is shown in the tango advert would be the orange man, the orange man represents the product tango because he is wearing the most obvious colour which matches the company's colour. Iconography is very important and it has definitely worked for this advert. This also makes the viewers consider this advert unique and also just having one thing that stands out can leave an image in your head. most people remember this advert due to the orange man that is used throughout the advert.
Editing and Lighting
This advert starts off with looking between the main man, a cat and the bloke who is being spoken about. When the music starts the editing has to very accurate, the music has a beat which the edit should be on. Also the more the edits the better the advert would be because you get to see more and that's what you want from an advert. The editing give the audience a feel like they are enjoying a run as well rather than just watching it. The lighting in this advert is mainly natural lighting because they film it next to a window at the beginning but when the guy starts running he is outside so there is nothing dark that could get in he way of the lighting for this advert.
Sound and Music
The sound throughout this whole advert, is basically all the metal and the shape of it making sounds, it's all natural sounds made by the products moving on there own. All the parts are parts of a car so this makes the advert unique and especially with the sound. Towards the end of the advert a song is played and that's the other sound throughout the whole advert. The music that is played is Non diegetic and it is played towards the end of the advert. The song is a tune which is unknown at first but has a good beat but then the music is identified as "another one bites the dust" by queen' this song is played at 1:38. The music that is played just gives it that originality and also that this advert may be unique but can play a good tune to match whats happening.
Computer Graphics and Special Effects (SFX)
The advert is very unique because it is all about a pony dancing, a pony will never dance like that so computer graphics are needed to make it look realistic, the whole video is funny because the pony is dancing to music, it trots and walks at first then at 0:27 the pony starts moon walking which will never happen. So computer graphics help out for this. Special effects is what this advert is all about. At 0:27 special effects are present but it may not look like it because special effects have improved so well since the early years. The pony has been made very well that it looks realistic and this advert was very eye catching just because the pony looked realistic. The special effects work well with the song as well.
They also used many other shots like a close up of his face when he got slapped by the orange man and also a far shot where you can see all the peoples body postures. five key characteristics of advertisement
Benefits offered
The benefits that this product brings is that when you want to cook something you should just cook quick chicken dippers. At 0:09 the polar bear says "the kids are coming home", just this being said proves that the chicken dippers are something which are easy to get prepared. The graphics of the talking polar bear is very weird to adults but to children they could see this advert as funny and this polar bear will stay in their heads so when they see the product in the shelves at supermarkets, the children will say that they want it.
Advantages over similar products
The other products which are very similar are chicken dippers that have been sold by company's like Iceland and Asda. But the way this product stands out is when the polar bear says at 0:17 "made with 100% chicken". This will make the product look really good and outstanding from the rest.
USP
The unique selling point of this product is all about it being 100% chicken and nothing else (0:17), just because this is included in the advert it can create a high number of interest rather than other companies.
Lifestyle appeal
This product is for family's with children. I would say this because the product is all about having something which is really easy to cook and the food is recommended to children because the advert has a polar bear in it and also at 0:09 the advert says about children arriving home from school wanting to eat food.
Brand identity
The brand identity of this product would be easy, simple, quick. I chose these words because the product is easy to cook, simple to cook and they don't take long at all to cook.
Benefits offered
The benefits of this product is to make people remember the catchy song while they drink the beverage. At 0:10, the people sitting on the bank start drinking there drink but as the drink touches there lips the band in the water start playing there own music tune. This
song is a very catchy song and I think rubicon have used this song to there advantage. The situation in the advert is funny because people are just enjoying a refreshing drink then 3 men pop out of the water and start singing "she like the mango", this makes the advert funny.
Advantages over similar products
The advantages that this product has that it is made with fruit, this will make the drink different compared to water or another drink. The advert itself makes the product look really good and also the slogan for the advert, which is said right at the end "rubicon love the exotic". This shows that the product tastes really nice.
USP
The unique selling point of this product is that it is a real exotic drink which is really nice, the selling point could be the slogan at the end, it could have a big meaning like; if you drink this drink then you love the exotic and probably want you to buy more but try out other flavours.
Lifestyle appeal
The lifestyle appeal for this drink is for people that you know enjoy themselves and also enjoy a nice refreshing fruit drink, it's not a drink that would be used every single day, but when it is drunk it would be very nice. The company have made this advert for you to buy the drink and experience what the people have experienced on the advert. (0:15)
Brand identity
The brand identity for this product is; enjoyment, nice, tasty. I chose theses words because the company want you to enjoy yourself when you drink the drink (0:03). They've made the advert look like its in an exotic place to make the drink look really nice as we'll. the slogan at 0:28 adds to the whole visual look.

10 memorable adverts
This advert is the Cadbury advert with the children moving their eyebrows freely, This is a good advert as you can see why.
What makes it memorable? This advert is memorable because the children that participate in the advert move their eyebrows freely without anything touching them.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It is effective because every time you see that advert it would automatically stick the type of chocolate bar in your head and this could make you want to buy it.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics and editing) The camera shots were from all angles apart from behind so that gave the viewers a laugh because when they turned they were still doing the eyebrows. The music that was used was a retro song and it worked so well. There were graphics at the beginning and the end so this showed what the product was and then the chocolate bar was shown which showed the viewers what it was all about.
This advert is from rowntrees and it is about a new sweet which starts sour but then becomes sweet.
What makes it memorable? That a boy is bike riding but then goes into a billboard of a tunnel bridge, he basically crashes into it really hard but then gets a plaster from the sweet.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? I’m not sue how effective is it because from my first views it looks like the sweet will hurt you but then become nice a bit later.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) Most of the shots were far shots so I would say they used these so you can see what happens clearly. The sound effects they used were when the person crashed into the bill board and this would make viewers laugh. The graphics would be the walking sweet so I think the use of graphics was good.
The frosties advert consists of a theater play and the conductor eats a bowl of frosties and then people break into a dance and song about frosties.
What makes it memorable? The big tiger that says “THEYR’E GREAT!” and that everyone is singing from the play.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? The way it could be effective is that it says in one of the lines that it keeps you awake so they are trying to sell it for mornings and that they taste nice.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) There is lots of movement on stage so some shots were far and some were mid shots. The sound was all calm until the guy ate some frosties then everyone started singing and dancing. The graphics is the tiger walking around.
This advert has been special around Christmas time and it is the coke advert.

How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It is effective because they make it look like coke is a big thing on Christmas.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) The camera shots that were used were ones like panning, they used this to show that the child was running. The sound that was used was jingle bells and also a choir or a couple of singers to sing “holidays are coming” and this really gave the Christmas day a whole new level. The graphics were good because they included the coke van in most shots and also the moving Santa on the back and also the appearing bottle.
This advert is all about a beer and how a group of people that have been taken to a certain place need a beer so they do a great escape to get some.
What makes it memorable? Is that they all have a plan on how to get drinks and they disguise the hole with a drinking tap.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It is effective towards the men because a man does drink and seeing this could make them feel like a great escape moment.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) Tracking through the tunnel, mid shot of people and close up of the drink itself. The music was the traditional English tune so it gave it that feeling like is the most important mission to get the drinks. The graphics were at the end where the drink was made to look refreshing but then went to a black screen.
This advert is all about bulmers and how the drink should be drunk slowly and enjoyed but the you will not know what will happen that night.
What makes it memorable? The memorable thing about this advert is that it is rewind; you see the drink going back into the bottle rather than it being poured into the glass.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It is effective because it shows that if you drink a bulmers to start then anything could happen that night.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) Most the shots are mid shot so it can seem quite boring, close up on the bottle. The song can be memorable because the song just says feel the groove. The graphics are at the end of the advert.
This advert consists of a women deciding to have either jam dodgers or toffee dodgers and the monkeys on top are saying “jammy” and “toffee”.
What makes it memorable? The memorable thing about this advert is the monkeys that are shouting out there flavour.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It is effective to children because if they see this advert they will think monkeys will appear and shout out the flavour of the dodger. When really they won’t.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) The camera shots have her standing with her back to the camera and showing to monkeys on the top of the shelves. There are also close ups at certain points of the monkeys otherwise it is all mid shots. The graphics are the monkeys and the bit at the end.
This advert is all about Michelin man saving people with there dangerous cars.
What makes it memorable? This advert is memorable because it is like a little cartoon advert of a car and a machine that takes peoples money due to them having not the right wheels.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? It tells people that you should drive safe with new tyres rather than old rubbish ones. It could make buyers think twice before driving on rubbish tyres.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) Its all cartoon but the shots are tracking and also pan, they would use these to see what’s happening around the clip. The whole thing consists of graphics and the other bit is where the company have the logo of the tyre.
This advert is all about a gorilla that plays the drums to a certain tune, and just this clip represents a chocolate bar.
What makes it memorable? This advert is memorable because it is a gorilla playing the drums and being in the zone.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? This can be effective in a certain way and that way could be that you can go into your own zone and imagine anything while eating a chocolate bar.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) The camera does close ups of the gorillas face to show that he is in the music zone. The sound is the drums that are being played and also the background song. The graphics are the writing and the chocolate bar which is showed at the end.
This advert is all about cream eggs being taken out by mouse traps.
What makes it memorable? The memorable thing about this advert is that the cream eggs are getting crushed.
How effective it is in selling the product to a specific audience? This hasn’t got an effect on a buyer but I think the buyer will just buy them because they like the chocolate.
Technical strengths? (Camera, sound, graphics) Camera is all one shot so it does look boring but the advantage they have is the eggs flying around. The sound is basically the sound of cream eggs screaming. Getting the eggs to move around and the writing at the end just has the motto for the egg.
